Iranian mill Azarbaijan Steel's rebar output declines by 24 percent

Iranian steel producer Azarbaijan Steel produced 400,000 mt of rebar in the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2009), down about 24 percent compared with 495,000 mt produced in the corresponding period of the previous year, according to the newly published statistics from the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).
Azarbaijan Steel, which based in the northwestern Iranian city of Miyaneh, has a designed rolling capacity of 500,000 mt per year. The producer is currently building an EAF-based steelmaking plant and an iron-making plant (with DRI technology), each with an annual capacity of 800,000 mt.
